About this material

Mitti Attar (Baked Earth).

Mitti Attar is one of the most poetic perfumes in the world — the scent of monsoon rain hitting parched Indian earth, captured in a bottle. Sun-baked clay discs from the river beds of Kannauj are crushed and loaded into the copper deg. The vapours rising from the heated clay are condensed directly into pure sandalwood oil. The result: a smoky-mineral, petrichor-rich attar that smells exactly like the first rain after summer. There is no synthetic that replicates this. Centuries old, geographically irreplaceable — Kannauj is the only place in the world where Mitti Attar is made.
